The Third Team hosted neighbours Whitley Bay IIs and asked them to bat first. The openers B Shah 24 and R Shah 50 put on a good opening stand but it was man of the match A Patel with 58 not out who was mainly responsible for the target of 197-7. The young Tynemouth opening pair of Will Perry and Hamish Swaddle-Scott each showed promise and claimed wickets with 1-38 and 1-33 respectively. Neil Bennett took 2-41, Ed Snelders 1-45 and Don Catley 1-17 with 35 extras conceded.
The interesting target was attacked well by Perry and Chris Grieveson after the instant loss of Finn Hodgson and the score was on 94 when Perry was caught for an impressive 44. Momentum was then lost, however, and Tynemouth fell behind the asking rate when Grieveson was bowled by B Shah for 48. Tom Hamilton contributed 15, Swaddle-Scott 13 and Jon Malton was 15 not out. Tynemouth were 22 short with 175-7 at the 40 overs conclusion. Whitley tried to help with 32 extras, mainly wides, but this was the third defeat of the season out of 4 games played for the Third team!
