The NCL Saturday Thirds were away at Hebburn and skipper Richie Hay had a fine day with the ball. He took a devastating 6-39 of the first seven batsmen (off 13 overs with 4 maidens) whilst promising new man Karl Salvidge (1-5 off 2 overs) bowled the resisting number three bat N Whitehead for 69. Hebburn were reeling and dismissed for 168 in 38 overs with some respite given by 24 from number ten Wigglesworth bowled by Dan Storey for his 6-0-29-1. Other wicket takers were Phil Currell 4-0-50-1 and Max Robertson 13-3-35-1 with some spilled chances.
The Tynemouth reply was a familiar story with wickets going down at regular intervals and only Salvidge with 43 bucking the trend. With only 102 all out in 26 overs Tynemouth had been unable to capitalise on their skipper’s good start. For Hebburn former player Ian Pratt took 2-38, Ian Younger 5-49 and Aiden Berry snaffling key middle order batsmen with 3-13.
