Club professional to leave after three great years

Mohammad Tahir Khan or just plain “ T “ as he became affectionately known to most at Preston Avenue has been our Club Professional for the past three years . He has been an outstanding player for us on the field, a willing coach always happy to pass on his knowledge , and a credit to our Club off it. A quiet man ,who loved the game and always wore the shirt with pride. Not a highlights bowler , but one to be relied on ball after ball, over after over , game after game and year after year. “T” was a Captains delight. Someone to throw the ball to and know you had control at one end. A high class off spinner in the mould of his mentor the great Saqlain Mushtaq, with great control of line and length. Graceful in run up and delivery stride , high fingers at the point of release and mesmerisingly accurate . Tahir really could land it on the proverbial sixpence ....and then turn heads to tails!
In three seasons for the Club he took a remarkable 206 wickets at an average of 14.1 and an economy rate of just 2.82. In NEPL games he took 133 wickets at 16.47 all at a miserly 2.62 rpo. As importantly he helped turn the team into winners with 3 trophies and a superb 3 rd placed finish in 2016.
On behalf of everyone at the Club I’d like to say a big thanks to Tahir for all of his efforts and wish him, Mishal and Aahil all the best for the future.
